Corkboard
was invented in 1892 mainly for the purpose of insulating cold storage
areas in buildings and other locations requiring efficient insulation.
It consists of various sizes of cork granules compressed together
under a high temperature causing the granules to expand and giving
them a dark brown color.
In past decades corkboard has also been used as a decorative item
for walls and ceilings. It has the additional property of improving
an area's insulation and sound proofing. We also have available a
special grade of corkboard which is ideal for the manufacturing of
decorative and hunting decoys.
